I've been away for a long time, I'm guessing my visitors have dropped by 60%.
Anyway, I have now a website of my own. Very VERY special thanks to Gary for hosting it for me and helping me throughout the making of my entire webbie from start to end. I don't think I could have gotten a decent grade without his help.

Quick 10mins work.
Was checking out some reference stuff of mountains before starting on a commish work.
The above isn't the work at all.
The above is just for fun and purely personal.
There aren't mountains in SG so it was a weird offer I took up.
I saw one of Pallala's take on a mountainview and the style was stunning.
Soo, thought I tried it myself just for fun.
I didn't use a reference for this, just based it on memory of mountains that I've seen.
Added the whites in PS.

Guys, I just realised how I haven't replied to a number of you guys regarding trades and collabs and exhibition help because alot of stuff was sent to junk mail which I never ever look at. And they date back to quite some time ago. I'm not sure now if I should still reply?

But I have to thank God for connections, because at least I got 1/5 of my work done.
I don't mind getting hooked onto more freelancing stuff if it's... over the weekend kinda thing?

My purpose for blogging, I haven't been checking my emails and replying them on time. I'm super sorry, I don't know why but life's been a bit hectic. Not really because of school.
So, would appreciate it if you guys understand when I turn down offers or trades or collabs or whatever invitations.
And for people who rush me to mail them their toys or artworks that you've commissioned, would also appreciate that you guys wait for it. International mailing can take up to 3 weeks to get to you guys so rushing me isn't gonna make anything faster.

Work.
Took slightly more than 2 hours for each and about 3 and a half hrs for the second panel with the family... and dog. Yeah that's actually a dog.
I sent it to my friend asking her to CC for me.

I'm just about done with the igotwood project.
Exhibition is said to be in Hawaii :)
This here's a TV set made of wood. It's a little incomplete. I have yet to get some clay and wires to glue to the top of the TV before I'm done.

Anyway, my main purpose for blogging today-

Usually, when I'm mailing a painting, more often by speedpost, I'd feeel awfully bad for my wallet. I usually spend about 60 to 100$ when I mail a canvas.

But today, when I got my money out for the mailing, I didn't feel a thing. At first I thought I was already numbed, having spent my money like this a couple of times. No, make that alot of times.
It wasn't that I was rich (my freelance friday work has just ended and I'm currently jobless) or that I've been doing this so much I don't feel the burn.

It was because I was doing this for a good cause.
So, I'm thinking of maybe getting a new project going. Something to do with fundraising (not for myself even though it's nice if you wanna do it) for the needy for the poor?

I won't be starting this so soon though since I'm already in a few projects and school is starting reeealllly soooon (heartattackk).
But yeah, maybe I'll work something out soon when I'm steady with school and all.

I just need to know, if I ever did hold a project for fundraising, who'd like to be involved in contributing some artwork or cash or whatever?
And when I say artworks I mean fairly big works. And when I say cash I mean of a fairly big amount :)

Ah I'm being vague, but mail me if you'd like to work with me on this.
I was watching Idol Gives Back and it reminded me alot of the little kids in Philippines
Their lack of many things and their satisfaction with what little they have.
I agree with one of my favourite writers, that we always do what we need to do for ourselves. It is how we survive, everything for our benefit. It is what we don't NEED to do that gets me thinking...

I just realised I have a new task/job/commission just being offered to me riiight now, yeah right nowww, which I will take up until monday :) I'm lucky to have finished my last freelance work and get a new one just right after that, though I gotta admit that even though it's design related, I'm a little tired of doing works now. Especially since it's nearing the end of my holidays and I'm supposed to have a good rest before my school starts (heartattack), guess I'll just treat this as a warm up for when schoool starts (heartattack)

Sorry for being so wordy with all the fund raising and charity and all that stuff. Like I said before, my personal blog is gone and I write alot about my thoughts and life and stuffies there.

I found an egg in my estate today.
I was kinda happy after i painted it because I thought it looked nice and cute. Emphasise thought.

Okaay probably the last post 'fore I leave SG. Going a few places this holiday.
Need a bit of break.
If I can't motivate myself to do work, then I've got zero right to motivate anyone else.

School ended end Feb.
SP2 done. On the surface it looks I did fine. In fact, it looks I did good even.
Just hope it's really gonna be as simple and as straightforward as that.
I still find something missing though.

It's like... this end semester project is REALLLLLY nothing compared to last sem.
Just do work like 3hrs a day all the way until the end of the project and you're done.
It can't even be compared to the usual school homework.
Kinda scary to finish 4 days before the deadline and spend the rest of SP days having fun. Too much fun. Of course we can all say it's part of work though. Sort of. I believe so. >___>

Anyway, I've had damn goood fun doing the whole exp series for FRESH FACE.

Completely random drawing. He's supposed to be sitting and reading but what the heck.
Did this because I wanted to blog here and I always try to accompany my posts with works.

Beeen reallllly busy because I just completed several books. Don't ask me what they're for, don't ask me why. Because you'll laugh when you hear it. I laughed as well. Not aloud or at anyone's faces.
But anyway, it's done. Over. No more. Finished.
And I'm glad because I took AGES making those books. It was done by hand, not printed because I was supposed to try to save cost.
And NO printing shop would ever wanna do this kinda work anyway. It wasn't just a regular book. The inside pages were of a different length than the outside.
And even if I managed to find a printing shop willing to do it, they'd prolly charge me 50$ per book.
I did it with my dad. Skipped lunch and all. Wasted millions of paper.

I promise you me and my dad felt totally sinful wasting all that.
You don't just waste paper doing that. You waste precious time.

But then again, who cares right? I'm the one doing it.
I can do with that.
No big deal.

'Artistic talent' is needed to cut, fold, paste and compile.

I think that was the smartest thing to say.

Anyway, school work has been pushed aside the past week. I guess it's gonna be the same next week and the week after.
I really hope I don't blow studio project.
I thought maybe I could get a higher GPA and better grades since we're gonna be streamed this semester but I guess not.
Life has been horrible.

So here's the funny eye color piece just for fun.
About 4hrs work.

I was like super enthu to do some vector stuff after I came back from Japan. 2 weeks of not touching the tablet didn't make me feel comfortable.

Gonna have to refine this work because the composition is horrible.
Everything's floating.

SO anyway, I been dead busy this week (I still am) but since I'm done with silly animation, I'll take some time out to post some updates.

I've been receiving a number of... unexpected sticker packs. Either that or I totally forgot about it. I hope not. But if I did, mail me and I'll get back... soon.

Another thing, I'd like a hold on shirt requests. Badges, commissions and collab requests can still go on. Shirt supplier's been changed so please (really) stop asking me for whatever funny and weird details YET.

If given the chance to take part in something you've always wanted to take part in and be trained by your favourite artist who you REALLLY SERIOUSLY look up to, even though you know going through that is like going through hell (there's no turning back and the results at the end might not be what you dreamed of) , would you still do it?
And if you don't take that opportunity, do you think you really won't regret making that decision?
Was i selected because there wasn't anyone else to pick?
When I say all this, does this mean I'm not cut out to be a champ fact that I've got absolutely no confidence in winning at all unless somebody helps me and gives me moral support?

You know, I REALLLY don't enjoy doing skulls and all. I'd much rather do more act cute kiddy illustrations then skulls so the above is what you get trying to mix the two-

There's actually a reason for it looking constipated. Trust me there is.

So that was a corner piece that's something off what I'm currently working on. The background is temporary because I slack. Alot. I'm also trying my best to treat it more like a personal-trying-to-waste-time-during-the-hols piece than school work.
Or maybe. a christmas-bluesss piece. Whichever.
Because I really am quite sad to see christmas decors being removed along the street, in shop displays..

Good thing is, I know a group of artists putting christmas decors up now so that christmas can last a lil' longer. Like now. Now. Huge group. Huge project. So I'm guessing they'll do fine.

So because of the lack of cash, I've got some good souls sending me things.. Things I can paint on or whatever. Things like, a Pringles! cover.

Probably the most... brainless design I've ever come up with.
Sad. But true.
It's what happens when you're rushing to meet the deadline with homework and other matters in your mind.

You come home about 10pm from school, have dinner, and wash up.
Settle some stuff and start designing at 1am.
You try to complete the above tee shirt design so that it can be printed early the next day.
You're thinking about your school work that's supposed to be submitted tomorrow as well. One that you've been doing almost since the time lessons first started.
You think so much you start coming out with crappy designs.
It's 3am.
You finally finish the design.
Now for school work.
Rush.
You keep erasing.
Sharpening the pencil.

When you hear your handphone ringing, you give up.

So I heard Peel Here 07 was fun.
Now I wished I lived in LA.

Busy start of the week. Dumb clients. That just about sums up my life currently.
But it's too bad. Need the money for further education riiight...
Not like I spend them on clothes. I stopped doing that like 3 years ago.
Maybe next time you'll see. I don't know.

Talking about that, I learnt that lots of us are sponsored by our parents.
Lucky. Veryyy lucky.
I felt like someone just threw a bowling ball on my head.
You know they say how truth can really hit you hard in the head. Yeeeah. Like that.

On a brighter note, I'll be getting about 300$ by the end of the week. So at least my hard work pays off.
Hopefully I can save enough to continue specialisation in visual comm classes in NAFA.
Stuff like thats been bugging me these days.

And people, take note:

I'll be turning down invitations for art exhibitions because of the lack of time. and money.
And for the last and final time, commissions are closed. To be frank, it's not that I received a lot of requests after already closing it. I only received about 2 or 3 more since it was closed. But to others who are planning on commissioning me, don't. Not yet.
Unless I open it again.

So anyway, I went to print invitation cards for my churchh along with some stickers after getting some funds from a recent commission. Yeeeah.
But yeah after the printing I'm back to being broke. 50$ for the invi cards and 30plus$ for the stickers.
After that, I rushed off to grab my bag which I left in church because it's just next to the place where I went off to print. I reached church realising I left my wallet in the printing shop. I've forgotten my wallet billions of times. And so, for the billionth time, I managed to get it backk.

I was THAT broke I couldn't bother rushing down to retrieve it. The only thing that got me going back was because I had two of my favourite local artists sigs in there that I didn't wanna lose.

But good news, the post i made last night got me 4 commissions.
Bad news is, I AM DEAD BUSY. School work is PILING because I've been rushing designs for church. Prioritise right???? Church comes first? Followed by school? And lastly clients?

I need to do a Church camp shirt by Sunday.
Attend short meeting on sunday 2-5pm.
Get a digital work fully done and printed and finish my Typography work by Monday.
School ends 9pm every monday.
Owe two animation assignments(one of them was due last weeek!), 15 panels for story boarding and come up with some character designs by Tuesday.
Finish up 10 drawings I owe the teacher by thursday. Half was due last weeek!
Rush the 2 poster designs for the car company and JC by friday.

God somebody hear me.
How on earth can I do everything without them being sloppy and badly done?
And my neck and back hurts from cutting 100 invi cardds manually. T_T

Anyway, here's something that happened today.

I was on my way to church in a huge hurry carrying my file and stuff when someone came up to me and actually asked me who i was. I thought he was trying to be funny so i carried on walking until he called my name. So i turned and asked if i knew him. And he said he recognised my sticker on my file because he frequents my blog.
I think when I heard that I honestly felt like fainting. Of course I tried acting like it's all cool but obviously it didn't work because i get all flushed up just reading compliments in emails. So having to experience someone showing their interest in my works right there and then is just... mmm.

So to Jeremy, nice meeting you and thanks for the kind words. It made my dayy :)

12 x 12 inch Canvas for the Peel Here '07 Exhibition.
The Mobo looks a lil weird cos the eyes are too close. He looks smart now. And that's not cute.
I've never been able to get accurate in my drawings and paintings on canvas which is really sad.
Here's the truth, I only managed a C5 for my art in sec school.
But who cares. Nobody. I'll tell you guys more about it next time.

On the whole it took me about 4 hrs to do this spread within 2 days.
So there, fruits of my futzin. It was enjoyable doing this! I had great fun.

Now what I need is money to get more paint and canvases.

Here's a can I painted. Might prolly use it for Free Art Friday or decoration. It depends on how much space I've got on my shelf... which is not much as you can see below.

I've got quite a number more cans to play with. Recycled stuff. I do art on anything I lay my hands on.

Free Art Exibition and an Apology

These Mobos are..... grey. And it's not photoshopped that way. I'm not messing around with the saturation to give it funny effects. They were colourful in my thumbdrive but after they went through the printer......

... now they look like a cross between an elephant and a mushroom.
But I love them anyway because they're special.

So here's what I did with them :
Got some good old cardboard. Tore them apart and started paintin and having fun with them. Yeah whatever, I said before i did horrible in color theory classes.
One important thing to take note, and that's to always keep your workplace neat. Like mine.

Yuck.

So as I wait for the paint to dry on the cardboard, I tag the back of it since I know there isn't really much space to do it at the front.

And there you have em, tacked nicely on my ugly house wall!

But there're not gonna be up there permanently though because these will be mailed to Seattle where the Free Art Exhibition's gonna be held come late Jan to early Feb. Exhibition date hasn't yet been confirmed.

The purpose of the Free Art Exhibition in Seattle is to spread awareness that art does not have to be ridiculously expensive and it can simply be just for fun and love. It doesn't always have to appeal to the masses or necessarily have to have any form of political or worldly message.

Important thing is, you do what you like, and you like what you do. You achieve what YOU set yourself to achieve as an individual.

Free Art is a gift to the public and an opportunity to make someone's day.

I am sorry.

So I said I'd mail the stickers on Friday which I didn't and I can't even remember why because......

ANYWAY, I was supposed to mail em today(saturday) but the stupidest thing happened. I told myself I'd mail them in the morning before going to school. So I woke early, sorted out the sticker packs and then I thought, "mm school first. stickers later. PRIORITISE PLEASE."

So instead, I rushed to schoool and OF COURSE, crap happened, something happened blah blah and I couldn't do my animation.

Checked the time.
'12.46pm. I can still mail stickers if I rush back.(since the post office closes at 1300.)'

Checked my wallet.
No $$ for a cab.

I took a bus and by the time I reached the post office...

CLOSED.

shit it.

I seriously promise to mail the packs on monday. See the picture, I've sorted out the packs...

HCF X 7-AD and some LOVE

Here's a sweet collab between hardcorefudge and me.

This image above here is slightly different from the final one we did. I didn't post the original anywhere else so that he can post it instead if he wants to. I'll just show a link if ever he puts it up somewhere.

The difference would be the Mobos at the background. They've got a higher opacity as compared to this. Also the figure at the front is lighter in the final piece.
Lastly, apart from smaller details, in the final, there's the small description of the Mobo Movement which he added in. So kind hahahhaa :)

In the image above, HCF worked on the foreground (the figure) while I did the background.
In the final he helped out on the background.

I had losta fun working on this simple and fairly quick collab. It was definitely exciting because I had 4 collabs going on at that time. Working under pressure was cool. Now I've got 5 collabs left. 2 fellas hit me up last night and last friday(i think). Ah whatever do the math.

I'll post them up when I feel like it.

Another thing. I AM SORRRRY for the mailing delay. I've got stuff happening around me. I'll be mailing them stickers on MONDAY MORNING. If not, Wednesday. Promise.

When people say I'm inspirational and influential, I fall to the ground. I don't take praises very well and there's no expressing how much words like that actually mean to me.
Especially when they come from people I don't know who visit my blog and send me lovely mails just telling me what my works mean to them and how they've started picking up what I do. Especially stickers and such. To pick it up from somewhere is a different story. To pick it up from me, that's just wow. Same goes for selling customs online.
Everything I do now was inspired by someone. And for people who've been inspired by me, it's reallly crazy and I know what it feels like since I've got some mad artists crushes myself.

Even though I've only had such motivational mails about 6 times or so(yes I count) in my 10 months of keeping this blog, I'm still grateful for the fact that what I do inspires others to do the same.
I know I sound like i just got an emmy award, which is not the case. I just thought i'd say this because stuff like this really make my day. I received one more mail today and... really, i can't take such love anymore

So here's a shout out to anyone in the world who supports what I do, enjoys my art, sends me mails that keep me going, or who just visits my blog for the sake of it;

To keep the theme of the combo, all participants are to send in their best work ( whether it be painted, printed, drawn, or stenciled) on a USPS postal label.

So I've finally found some free time to blog. I've been doing collabs after collabs. Some of them from the holidays until now. I've got 4 more left. Sorry if I seem to take my time throwing the pieces back to you guys, it's just that i'm reallly busy now that school has officially started, tutorials and lectures altogether.

Ehh new scanner. Couldn't help posting some quick sketches. I've got a few more, about 8 or so done durin the school hols so i thought i'd just post something before i start gettin reeeally busy :)

Never felt so good on a rainy day!

I just NEED to get him something since I've always been quite hysterical over his works.

And I've printed more stickers today. Cheryl that means I can trade with you. Those who like my stix, mail me for a trade. MAIL and don't do anything else thanks.

Also, I've received several emails in spanish and french and german and whatever. I HAVE NO IDEA what you guys are saying. I can only recognise an address obviously because of the numbers and country like for example:

And whatever else you guys wrote in the email, I cannot understand. I only understand basic stuff like "cambio de stickers" or "echange stickers" or "handel stickers" and whatever words that can gimme a clue that you'd like to trade with me. But when you peeps type long sentences and want me to try to understand them, I really can't do anything. I know it's not your fault we don't speak the same language and stuff. Try to keep your sentences short. Maybe I can understand better.

It's fine if you wish to type in spanish because a friend can help translate that but... french, german etc.... hard. And google doesn't help much :(

And ONE more thing, I'm sorry if I might sound like I'm really unfriendly, but at the meantime I'd appreciate it if you guys don't add me on msn UNLESS you wanna talk to me about art related stuff and not because you wanna know me personally. Do email me for stickers and such but don't ADD me on msn to talk about anything unrelated to art, maybe next time when I actually know some of you people better.

New sticker set. (no, the snapple bottle cap isn't a sticker. it's just to compare sizes.)

Ah i went through trouble at the post office. It was horrrible.
To keep a looong story short, the post office's main door closed because they thought nobody else was inside.
I ended up exploring the place for another exit and next thing I knew, I was in the HUGE and busy room (STAFF ONLY) where they sort out the envelopes and mails.

CRAZY.
It was really kinda huge that when i opened the door and just stood at the doorway, nobody noticed me. Staff were running about doing their stuff, it was crazy.

Of course that gave me the opportunity to find the exit and get out of the post office by the back which really was meant for the staff.

Yet another mail i got from Japan! So cute.
Will be adding some stickers he sent into my blackbook.

Also, I got so inspired by an artist today I feel I MIGHT just be getting the creative juices back and getting characters out of my brain!
PLUS, caleb my buddeh showed me some of his magic of story telling. SO there. I WILL, MUST, SHALL write the greatest story ever told for my future creatures (hopefully better than caleb).

LMAO guess i'll do badly for this project. The teachers pointed out a few stuff that could'ave been improved on. And I cannot agree more. For example, i wasn't supposed to draw humans and i KNEW THAT. But i forgot about it halfway into my painting so there goes. I only remembered after the printing and the mounting.

... there goes my marks.

On a brighter note, it's got me even more motivated to improve, in concept and fundamentals.
There'll be more to come. It's the hols now. I'm starting some new stuff. I wouldn't call it a project because it isn't something serious.

I just pretty much hope that my effort would reap some good stuff out.

So for me, it all ends this sunday. No more havin to futz with hamsters and hang out at Clarke Quay. Yeah sunday because I've still got to design the movie tickets for movie sunday.

I miss doin' what i do.

SO anyway, my purpose for posting today...
I'll write it here since a number of you'all visit my blog frequently.(Thank you guys.)
If you'all meet anyone advertising some slimming and facial product stuff for you to drink or apply or do crap and slams you for being imperfecto because youre this or youre that, please don't let them continue slammin' you; i'm not sayin this exact thing happened.

BUT PLEASE if anyone ever points out that you sick or you dumb or fat or ugly or you whatever whether directly or indirectly, don't let them push you.

Because these people just show disrespect. They think they're mighty and they're better.

Ego writes cheques their body can't cash so please, deal with them

Just so you'all know, I'm not mad or angry or anything, it's just to remind you guys, that lettin such people get their way doesn't help much. At least give a shot in trying to change things.

When you meet such people, go back and cheer even louder, because sometimes, it's better to be bold than to be circumspect ;)

Actually it's just a random doodle I did in class durin' my color theory lesson after I saw SAMWITHHAM futzin' around in photoshop. His creature was very cool and I don't know but I liked the colors as well. Very fleshy kinda color.

Feelin' so bad about this piece of work. I've never done such a rushed work for submission before. Everything is soo FLAT and BLACK. I'm pretty sure I got a zero for the presentation.
But I'm keeping them fingers crossed for a one digit mark.
